5/13 Higher Braggamarsh Cottage - - II

Cottage. Late C17 or early C18, divided into 2 occupations in C19 and returned to single cottage in C20. Rendered stone rubble and cob. Thatch roof with gable end stacks, that to left brick, that to right unrendered stone rubble with offsets and brick shaft. Slate roof to rear outshut. 2-room and central cross-passage plan with winder staircase in outshut to rear of passage and inserted C19 staircase in outshut to rear of right-hand room. The 2 rooms of roughly equal size, the kitchen to right, parlour, possibly originally unheated, to left of passage. 1 1/2 storey eontinuous outshut to rear. 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical. 2-window range. Left side has C19 fenestration with a 4-light casement 3 panes per light on each floor. Right side windows replaced in C20, 3-light casements. Gabled slate roof to central porch with plank inner door with thin chamfered surround. C19 fenestration principally intact to rear outshut. Interior. No ceiling beams to the 2 front principal rooms. C19 joinery intact throughout. Fireplace to left-hand room is C20, to right is C19. Late C17 doorway at rear of passage has chamfered surround with prism stops. Roof not inspected.
