SK1109NW BIRD STREET 1094-1/4/40 (North East side) 05/02/52 Moat House and attached wall to left and outbuilding to rear
GV II
House, now offices. c1750. Brick with ashlar dressings; hipped tile roof with brick stacks. Double-depth plan. Georgian style. 2 storeys with attic; 4-window range. Top cornice. Segmental-headed entrance to left of centre has doorcase with architrave and consoled pediment, enriched radial-bar fanlight over 6-panel door. Windows have sills, and rubbed brick flat arches with keys over 12-pane sashes, hipped dormers with casements. Left return has 2 brick platt bands, C20 wing to left of segmental-headed window with pegged cross-casement with leaded glazing. Rear has 2 coped gables and attached small gabled outbuilding to right; varied fenestration including C19 canted bay window; two C18 rainwater heads with downspouts. Stone-coped wall to left has segmental-headed entrance with plank door.
