Includes: No.21 DANBURY STREET. Terraced houses. c.1845. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys over basement, two windows each. The houses form a symmetrical group, the two end houses projecting slightly. Basement and ground floor stuccoed. Steps up to segmental-arched entrance with moulded stucco architrave and doorway in recessed segmental-arched panel; simple doorcase with cornice and overlight, panelled door to no 32; no 21 Danbury Street has single-storey recessed porch wing with banded rustication and pilasters carrying segmental archivolts; pilaster jambs and cornice to doorway; the northernmost bay of this wing has a C19 shopfront with pilasters flanking a round-arched window with moulded wooden architrave and arcaded glazing. Ground-floor windows round-arched; sill band terminating the stucco at first-floor level; upper windows flat-arched with moulded stucco architraves; cornice and iron balconies to first-floor windows. Sashes of original design, with radiating glazing bars to ground floor, to nos 21 Danbury Street (first floor), 32 Gerrard Road (first and second floors), 33 (ground and first floors). Moulded stucco cornice and blocking course. Stacks to party walls. Cast-iron railings to area. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story. The book of Islington: London: 1986-).
