Formerly known as: Barker's Mill GRAY LANE.
Water-powered corn mill, now house. Early C19 with late C20
alterations. For the Raby Castle Estate. Rubble with ashlar
quoins and dressings; roof of graduated stone slates with iron
gable cramps and rubble chimney. 3-storey, 3-window, range to
river; 2 storeys to lane. Irregular fenestration to river
frontage which has straight-pointed arch at left over mill
race; flat stone lintels to 6-pane fixed light at right, to
renewed fixed light on first floor and sashes on second floor.
Roof has small square chimney at left end. Left return gable
has renewed wide 2-leaf door at left with alternate block
jambs and flat stone lintel, C20 conservatory at right, small
fixed lights on floor above and in gable peak; corner
corbelled out over curved angle to lane.
INTERIOR: two millstones set in first floor, and undershot
water wheels below with wooden cogs.
