TQ 2880 NE CITY OF WESTMINSTER DAVIES STREET W1 69/65 No 2 (Bourdon House) and 2A 24.2.58 - II*

Built as a detached town house with main southfront at right angle to street. c.1721-25. Brown brick. Originally of 2 storeys and attic, heightened by one storey with slated mansard in second half of C19. Rusticated brick quoins. Three storey 2 bay extension with new entrance added to north on Davies Street c.1760. Mid C19 alterations integrated both parts with parapet of half round tiles and tiled mansard with dormer. Four window bays to Davies Street, some blind. Ground floor has reset or reproduction wood pilaster doorcase with open pediment, renewed glazing bar sash windows. Main south front to small garden has 1 x 3 x 1 window bays, the centre 3 advanced, quoined and pedimented and containing central stone architrave doorway with pediment on consoles. Original stone cornice over first floor returned to Davies Street. Flush framed renewed glazing bar sashes, early C20 wrought iron balconettes to first floor. Wing in suitably matching style added early C20 to right hand. Interior retains much of its original and c.1760 panelling, with turned baluster open string staircase, etc. Survey of London Vol XL.
