Methodist church. 1878. By Peter Balmer. Yellow sandstone with red sandstone dressings and slate roof with fishscale bands. Gothic style. Nave on north-south axis, with north-west tower and north-east staircase wing. Gabled facade; central 2-centred arched doorway with set-in columns which have foliated caps, moulded arch and hoodmould, all under steeply-pitched gable; above this, a large 2-centred arched 4-light window with geometrical tracery. To the left, a staircase wing with 2-centred arched doorway, a 3-light window above with stepped sill, and hipped roof. To the right, a tall 3-stage tower with octagonal corners finished as corner pinnacles, 2 very tall lancet windows to the 2nd stage, and belfry windows with wooden louvres. Two-storey 6-bay side walls with buttresses, coupled arched windows at ground floor, and 2-centred arched 2-light windows above. INTERIOR: 3-sided gallery on iron columns.
