Details
KIMBOLTON EASTON ROAD TL 1067-1167 STONELY (EAST SIDE) 7/36 WHISPERS SCHOOL GV II Vernacular Revival house built in 1864-65. Formerly known as Stonely Grange. Two storeys and attics, many gabled complex plan with cellars. Two main ranges flank open courtyard to west and north and are linked by a garden wall to north-west stable block and yard. Locally made red brick coursed in English bond, with rendered, timber-framed attic gables. Plain tile roofs, side stacks with offsets and tall patterned brick shafts. Main entrance facade with projecting wing to north-east extended to form low range dairy block with parapet gable. Three gables with decorated bargeboards and drop finials. Moulded brick and wooden cornice. Small turret in angle of two ranges, linked by lean-to to open gabled porch with double half-glazed door in shallow two centred arch. Side stack to right hand of porch with vertical brick banding to shaft. Casement windows of varying sizes with wooden frames and ovolo mullions. Stable block L-plan, local red brick with plain tile roof and wooden louvre with pyramidal cap, ball finial and weather vane linked by contemporary garden wall and archway to dairy wing of house.
