GV II*

Parish Church. Nave, possibly C12 core, C15 west tower, and north chapel, C20 chancel and south porch. Restoration of 1877. Ham stone ashlar walls. Slate roofs with stone gable-copings and cross at east gable. West Tower, 3 stages with diagonal and right-angle buttresses, with set-offs. Bell-openings with Y-tracery. Crenellated parapet with renewed pinnacles. Gargoyles. West doorway, pointed, with moulded jambs. Nave, 2 windows, single light and 3-light stone mullions with 4-centred heads. Separate labels over. South porch with stone slab and slate roof with a stone gable-coping. Entrance with pointed segmental head and chamfered jambs. Inner doorway with continuous roll-moulded jambs, C12. Chancel has 3-light East window with intersecting tracery. Stopped label over. Interior: large tower-arch to nave with pointed head. Door up high beside the south jamb. C15 chancel-arch of 2 respond-orders with casement moulding in between. Nave and chancel both have plastered barrel ceiling. Font: cylindrical stone bowl, with large rope-moulding round the centre, lead-lined, C12. Moulded stone stem is C20. Piscina: N. chapel, south wall, recess with ogee head and square drain, C15.
