SD40NW WIGAN ROAD, Westhead 663-1/4/196 (North side) Lund's Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. Probably late C17 or very early C18, altered (and perhaps re-clad) in later C18; altered. Red brick in English garden wall bond (5+1), stone slate roof. Single-depth 3-unit plan (formerly with baffle-entry), with later additions to rear. Two storeys and 3 windows, with a plain doorway at the junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays (protected by a C20 glazed porch), and three C20 three-light casements on each floor, all with raised sills and rectangular lintels. Large square ridge chimney at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays, with bands, panelled sides and cornice. Rear: 2 single-storey C19 lean-tos. INTERIOR: the hall or housepart has 2 large chamfered lateral beams with unusual jewel stops. Forms group with associated barn approx. 5 metres east (q.v.).
