GV II
Silk mill, now converted for office and commercial use. c1825, with C20 alterations. Brick in Flemish and English garden wall bonds on stone plinth with Welsh slate and stone-flagged roof. 3 storeys and 13 bays, with former engine house and chimney at rear. Original pattern of openings modified on conversion, with addition of 4 entrances in moulded stone architraves. Taking-in door on first floor also now replaced. Fenestration all renewed as 36-pane sashes in mainly original openings with flat-arched brick heads and stone sills. Rear elevation has projecting tapered square chimney shaft. Lean-to engine house at base of stack now altered. INTERIOR structure has transverse wooden beams on cast-iron and wooden columns. Reconstructed roof of 12 queen post trusses.
