House. Mid-late C17. Long, one and a half storeys, timberframed, plastered, facing S. Gabled thatched roof carried down over single storey rear lean-to with 8 courses of red tile at rear eaves. Dripboards over 3-light gable windows on both floors. Small, gabled, thatched and plastered porch one-third from E. Central red brick chimney in middle of house. 2 small gabled dormers on wall plate. 4-window front with modern iron casements. 2-light and 3-light wooden casements to front dormers. Plan suggests built as 2 semi-detached houses with back-to-back fireplaces, ovens and staircases. Each house of 2 rooms on each floor with entrance into room with fireplace. Stop chamfered axial beams carry square joists. Face-halved and bladed scarf in front wall plate. Open fireplace with stop chamfered timber lintel. Tiled gabled dormer at rear gives headroom for staircases and has 2 wide-spaced small windows. The rear outshot is an original part of each house. Side purlin roof construction. Up to c.1960 called Berry Cottage.
