TG 2208 NE ST. STEPHEN'S ROAD (north-west side) 28/820 5.6.72 Norfolk & Norwich Hospital (Administrative Block and Main Hall) - II Hospital. 1859 by E. Boardman with Thomas Henry Wyatt as consultant. Red brick with ashlar dressings; plain tiled roof; 2 ridge brick clustered chimneys and others to rear. Queen Anne Revival style. 2 storeys and attic; 13 first-floor windows, symmetrical. Central porte-cochere has balustraded stone parapet with central scrolled cartouche bearing Royal Coat of Arms and Doric pilasters with alternate brick and stone bands. Main facade has slightly projecting end wings with 3 windows in each. First-floor bays are defined by pilasters. Moulded brick string course; stone band above first- floor windows; and moulded cornice under parapet broken by 2 attic windows with stone pediments and 3-shaped gables each with one window, stone dressings and ball finials. Segmental headed windows have glazing bars in the top sash only,large panes below and gauged brick arches with key blocks. Central clock tower has base comprising alternate bands of stone and brick, with pediments over the clock face and surmounted by a cupola on six columns. Octagonal tower of 2 storeys to rear.
