Details

COLSTON BASSETT HALL LANE SK63SE (south side, off) 4/7 The Old Rectory - - II House. Probably 1834 by H M Wood (Pevsner), with later addition to east. Brick. Slate roof. Massive stone kneelers with a cyma recta moulding supporting stone copings. Tall brick stacks with diagonally set flues in groups of 2, 3 and 4. Asymmetrical but ordered arrangement with 5 gables each of 1 bay. One gable is obscured by the addition. Two storeys. The entrance is obscured by a later lean-to porch. 2-light and 3-light casement windows with chamfered reveals, flat brick arches and stone sills. On the west side one 1st floor window has a gabled dormer above. On the north side is a French window, and on the east side is a tripartite French window with a canted oriel bay above. Interior: not inspected.
