6/162 Parker family vault south-east of Church of St Mary
II
Family vault for Parkers of Petteril Green. 1828. Calciferous sandstone ashlar. Square with angle buttresses, moulded plinth and parapet stones with carved leaves and quatrefoils. Panelled cast iron door in pointed Gothic arch. Pointed-arched side window with scrolled grille. Opposite side has cross loop opening. Sloping slab roof, supported by corbels, is partly missing and some of the parapet stones have fallen. Raised panel over door has no inscription. A brass plate (which now appears to be missing) recorded the death of Margaret Parker, 1828, her husband Christopher Parker, 1838, and various children. See Samuel Jefferson, Leath Ward, 1840, p.497.
