Details
NORTH NIBLEY STANCOMBE PARK ST 7396 8/128 Parker's Lodge GV II
Wrongly shown on OS map as Porters Lodge. Former lodge house, now small detached house. c1860 for Rev. David Edwards. Coursed and squared marlstone; limestone ashlar and brick rebuilt chimneys; stone slate roof. Tudor style; picturesque. Single-storey with attic. Gabled at north west end with gable-mounted chimney, one shaft rebuilt but other with tall lozenge-patterned Tudor style shaft. Roof half-hipped at south east end with canted timber porch having hipped roof; small attic casement over. Boldly projecting sprocketed eaves to sides are supported at south east end with heavy timber corner posts. Two canted bay windows to front side under combined hipped roof. Single hipped attic roof dormer with small timber casements. Central chimney gable on rear side with tall Tudor style shaft; brick segmental-arched recess below. Lean-to addition at north west end is not of special interest. Groups with The Studio to north west (q.v.). Formerly one of 2 lodges of drives to Stancombe Park in Stinchcombe C P. (B. Jones, Follies and Grottoes, 1974; and D. Verey, Gloucestershire: The Cotswolds, 1979)
