7/10 The Priory
II
Part of Priory now house. C14 with C16, C18 and C19 additions and C20 alterations. Flint with stone and brick dressings and quoins, brick chimneys, some tile hanging to gable. Tiled roofs. Double pile with C14 and C16 part to north, later addition to south. 2 storeys, part to north, gabled with large central ridge stack, part to south hipped with end stacks. North Elevation:- Irregular fenestration of C20 metal casements except for left of first floor which has a 2 light cusped headed window in stone surround with carved stone set immediately to its right, large flint buttress to left corner of building and lean to formed from part of C14 flint wall, central door under C20 pent porch. South Elevation:- All windows C20 casements, 3 windows, the outer ones being wide and under rubbed brick arches, central door in semi-circular headed brick surround with stone impost blocks and keystone. Interior:- Much timber framing evident in internal partitions, chamfered and stopped beams and large joists, re-used C16 door head in end wall of first floor bedroom, 2 bays of soot blackened timbers in east part of roof with moulded arch braced collars, chamfered wind braces and purlins, collar and crown post at mid-span of central bay, 2 bays of C17 rafters all numbered to west.
