Country House dated 1731 on rainwater heads. Ashlar. Plinth, chamfered quoins, first floor band course, cornice and panelled parapet. Hipped slate roof, square stone chimneys with entablature tops. 2 storeys and attic. S. front has 9 bays, the outer 2 on each side projecting. Barred sash windows with keyblocks, central pedimented Doric porch. N. front similar with Gibbs surround to central door and niches in return walls. Service wing attached to NE angle. Interior: c1730 staircase with turned balusters, fluted Corinthian newel columns and open strings with moulded panels on scroll brackets. Re-used fluted Tuscan columns and C19 plaster- work in front rooms. Room to rear has mid C18 wooden panelling with moulded cornice, doorcase and re-assembled chimney-piece. House built on site of Cistercian Priory founded 1147.
