5/36 No. 7 (The Old Rectory) and The Old Rectory Cottage (formerly both listed as 3.3.52 The Rectory) I - II
House, formerly the Rectory; C18, altered, but incorporating C17 cellar and other walling. Coursed rubblestone, part old tile roof, part slate. 5 bays and 2 storeys- with dormers. Glazed central door, pointed arched fanlight with interlacing glazing in architrave doorcase of Doric pilasters and entablature Box sashes. Band course. Parapet above string and 2 attic sashes in stone gables, coped and with kneelers. These are mid C19 additions by the incumbent, Rev. C.G. Hilton. Double pile house with mid C19 yellow brick stacks to each pair of flanking stone coped gables on kneelers. Mostly sashes to sides, some casements. C19 bay window to north and to its east 2 C17 2-light quarter-round moulded stone mullioned windows to half-basements. Interior: C18 full height staircase with fluted newel posts, twisted balusters and carved tread ends. Front ground floor rooms: on left early C19 reeded cornice, C19 chimney piece. RCHM II. 113 Mon 2
