SOUTH PERROTT PICKETT LANE ST 40 NE 12.6.53 2/251 Pickett Farmhouse - II*

Farmhouse, former Grange. C15 core to south range, and C17 west range. Rubble-stone walls. Slate roof with stone gable-copings. East elevation: brick stack at left hand gable and right hand front eaves. 2 storeys. c3 windows, 3-light wooden and iron casements with glazing-bars, wooden lintels and cills, C19 and C20. Door left of centre, with 9 flush-panels. Reconstituted stone porch, C20. South gable-end has barded stone and rubble walling. Blocked windows, of 2 lights, trefoil-cusped with a panel tracery head. Pointed arch with a label over, C15. North gable-end with diagonal buttresses, C15. West range, C17 core and has window openings of that period, with C20 casements. Interior: Roof, south range: arch- braced collar-beam roof with end-trusses, C15. 7 bays. 2 sets of through- purlins, with remains of 2 tiers of wind-braces, set on to the back of the purlins. Studding and plasterwork survive, dividing off the roof-space. Probably, originally a first-floor hall. Inserted fireplace on south gable wall, with very large flue. Source: RCHM Dorset I, p177(3).
