Spinning and weaving mills, now industrial units. Mid C19; mainly c.1900.
Squared and coursed limestone; gabled Welsh slate roof; tall stone stack to rear
of centre range. 2 storeys and attic: 7-window range. 3 shaped gables with ball
finials to apexes and stepped and scrolled sides. Keyed flat stone arches over
C20 windows with ashlar jambs. To left is plain gabled bay with
engineering-brick coping, and ashlar bay with semi-circular shaped gable and
moulded cornice over 3-light mullioned window with sashes. To rear right is long
mid C19 range of coursed limestone rubble with gabled stone slate roof; other
rear ranges are c.1900. Bridge Street Mill was founded in the 1860s by William
Smith of Witney: the chimneystack served the steam-powered looms: blankets made
here were taken to the Smith's Mill at Crawley to be fulled.
