CARTMEL FELL SD 48 NW 8/8 Lightwood Cottage and adjoining barn

House. Probably C18. Stone rubble, the house roughcast; slate roofs. House of 2 storeys and 3 bays, the 1st bay probably later. Dripcourse to 1st and 2nd bays. 1st bay has windows with small-paned fixed glazing with opening lights; other windows are sashed with vertical glazing bars and horns. Entrance has flat-roofed trellis porch and 4-fielded-panel door. Stack to gable end. Left return has small entrance under dripstone. Rear has 3 windows, one a 2-light wooden mullioned window. Barn is higher; entrance and window with blocked winnowing door above; blocked square ventilation holes. Gable-end stack next to house. Right return has entrance with cambered wood lintel and dripcourse. Rear has barn doors in cheeks.
