Details
HUNGERFORD WANTAGE ROAD SU 37 SW 9/19 Eddington House II Large House. Early C19 to South with late C19 addition to North, porch dated 1927 mentions extension and remodelling. South part is rendered and lined out, with stucco cornice and parapet, ashlar porch with flint side walls; hipped slate roof with flanking chimneys. North part: red brick with rubbed flat arches, cement cornice and parapet; red tiled roof hipped with central chimney. 2 storeys. East elevation: to left 3 glazing bar sashes, ground floor tripartite, central projecting closed porch with doric corner columns, swan neck pediment to central doorway with pulvinated frieze; to right, 2 principal bays the right hand breaking forward with a central full height 3 window bow with french casements on the ground floor. South elevation: Ashlar C20 loggia, hexastyle in antis with ionic columns, semi-circular bow to left with 2 curved section glazing bar sashes and french case- ments below. Large service wing to rear, North East, 3 glazing bar sashes. VCH vol iv - p. 184.
