C18, said to have been built in 1745 as pert of a shipbuilding yard. Built against
rock face, and later buildings adjoining, boarded front with single-pitched roof with
shaped brackets to eaves. Two storeys. Four bays wide, the first floor with seven
alternately larger and smaller windows all with glazing bars. The ground floor is
largely obscured by a modern garage building. Inside: the roof is supported on three
timber posts or masts and at the front the upper storey is supported on stone piers with
small niches for lamps. Contains what is said to be the original hand turned wheel lathe.
