ST MERRYN TREVOSE HEAD
SW 87 NE
1/277 Cottage adjoining Trevose Barton
Farmhouse on south west, and garden
wall to front

II

Farmhouse and garden walls to front. Probably C17, extended in early C18. Stone
rubble. Rag slate roof with gable end on right and half hipped end on left. Stone
rubble end stack with brick shaft on left, brick shaft to rear lateral stack and end
stack to right with brick shaft.
Plan: Interior not accessible at time of survey and the original plan is uncertain.
The house appears to have a 3-room and cross passage plan with entrance to left of
centre. Left hand room heated by an end stack, the central room by a rear lateral
stack and the right hand room by an end stack. There is a straight joint on the
front wall, towards the right hand end suggesting that the right hand room may have
been added. In circa early C19 a second range was added to the rear right (now a
separate cottage) and in the early C20 a second farmhouse was added on the right hand
end (not included in the listing).
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4 window front. Two late C19 or C20 2-light
casements flank a C20 door to left of centre with a 2-light casement to right and C19
16-pane sash beyond. On first floor are two late C19 or C20 2-light casements, C19
2-light casement and C19 16-pane sash.
Interior: Roughly cut ceiling beams in left hand room.
Stone rubble walls enclose garden to front of house.
