BUCKLEBURY MARLSTON SU 57 SW 5/7 Church of St. Mary 7.12.71 GV II* Church, C12 with north door of circa 1170, restored in 1855 by William Butterfield, and in 1876 and 1901 when bellcote was added. Flint with stone dressings; old tile roof over nave and chancel; shingled bellcote at west end of nave, 3 cinquefoiled arches on each face with quatrefoils above, pyramidal tiled roof and weathervane. Nave, chancel, south porch and north vestry. Nave: West End: diagonal buttresses, window with 2 ogee headed cusped lights and hoodmould. South Side: gabled timber south porch on low stone wall with tiled roof and 3 small arches in gable end; large trefoiled south doorway, lancet to right flanked by paired lancets to right and left. North side. paired lancets to left, C12 doorway to right of one order with shafts and scalloped capitals. Chancel: South Side: 2 cusped lancets with buttress to left. East end; diagonal buttresses. Large Decorated style window with 3 cinquefoiled lights, trefoils and hexafoil in tracery above, and hoodmould with carved stops. North Side; 2 cusped lancets. Vestry: gabled to north with stack consisting of 2 octagonal shafts with moulded caps, diagonal buttresses to north and window with 2 ogee headed lights, quatrefoil in tracery, and hoodmould with carved stops. Square headed window to east with 2 ogee lights, and lancet style doorway to west. Interior: 7 bay C19 arch braced roof with windbraces. Wall piscina in chancel to south-east, C12 pillar piscina to north-east; all other fittings C19 including octagonal font, octagonal pulpit and reredos.
