House, now school. 1895-9 by Edward Burgess in an Elizabethan style. Red brick with Bath stone dressings; eaves string course, stone coped parapet and graded stone slate roof. 17 stacks with clustered circular, octagonal and twisted shafts, square bases and moulded caps. Tower to south-west of four storeys with gables on each face. Irregular L-plan. Stone mullioned and transomed windows with leaded lights, some with returned hoodmoulds. Two storeys and attic.

North front: main elements include two storey gabled porch off-centre to right with obelisks on parapet corners. Four-light attic and first floor windows, four-centred moulded archway with Palmer Coat of arms carved above. Three-bay hall to left with tall canted bay window rising to parapet at left. Gabled wing projecting at far left with first floor oriel window.

Two-storey wing projecting to right: north-east front has two gables, central four-centred arched doorway with canted ground floor bay to left, and four-centred carriage archway to right with two storey bay to left and first floor mullioned window with arched heads above.

South front: main elements include three asymmetrically placed two storey canted bays, four gables, central moulded round arched doorway, boarded door to left with carved lintel and sundial to right. Tower set back to left with two bay round-arched loggia on ground floor. One storey kitchen block to far left with battlemented parapet and timber skylight with ogee lead cap.

Interior: large Hall, panelled with screens passage and gallery above, squat columns supporting large fireplace overmantel with four pilasters and caryatids. Three-flight square-well staircase with square balusters and carved newels, octagonal stone vaulted inner porch with panelling, and outer stone-vaulted porch. Other good rooms include the dining room, library and drawing room. Much stained glass throughout, some almost 'Art Noveau'. Terrace to north, south and east of house with arched stone balustrading and square piers. Two flights of steps to lawn on south front with depressed arched niche and seat between.
