Details
PREES C.P. Aldersey Lane (south- SJ 53 SE west side) 7/55 Aldersey Farmhouse - - II Farmhouse. Probably C17, extended and partly rebuilt mid-C19, with later additions and alterations. Timber framed now roughcast and rebuilt in C19 red brick to front; machine tile roof. 2-cell baffle-entry type with gabled range to rear forming T-plan; lower C19 extension to right. One storey and attic. 2- and 3-light C19 casements with segmental engineering brick heads to ground floor, one to left and 2 to right of contemporary gabled brick porch with C20 half-glazed door under round-headed arch. Late C19 gabled eaves dormers directly above left and centre casements; central red brick ridge stack. Projecting single-purlin ends to gables, including to rear. Interior: timber frame (square panels) exposed to original back wall, now with C20 lean-to against it. Large central stack with partly infilled inglenook fireplace to right ground-floor room, which also has 2 chamfered spine beams and heavy joists with chamfer stops. C20 single-storey addition in angle to rear on left is not of special architectural interest.
