14/92 The Vicarage
G.V. II
Vicarage. Late C18 or early C19 with mid C19 alterations and additions. Painted ashlar, with pilastered quoins, on rusticated plinth. Graduated greenslate roof; painted ashlar chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays with extension bay to right under common roof. Top-glazed 4-panel door under glazed fanlight in Ionic porch. Central window was originally the entrance and was moved to the right when extension was built. Sash windows with glazing bars. Extension has tripartite sash windows with glazing bars. End wall has sculptured Roman stone figure brought from Old Carlisle Roman Fort, see Transactions Cumberland & Westmorland Antiquarian & Archaeological Society, new series, xxv, p378.
