GV II

Cottage. Circa mid C19 remodelling of a circa late C17 cottage which might have originally been part of a larger house. Plastered stone rubble. Clay tile roof with gabled end abutting adjoining houses. Limestone rubble stack at right hand gable end with tall rendered shaft. Plan: One room plan heated from a stack at the right hand gable end, a doorway at the front left giving direct entry and a staircase in the rear left hand corner. There appears to be an outshut at the back. This cottage might be part of a larger cottage. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1-window east front. First floor a C20 2-light casement and ground floor a C20 canted bay window with casements and a scantle slate hipped roof. Doorway to the left has a C20 divided plank door and a C20 gabled and glazed open-fronted porch. Rear elevation not inspected. Interior: Chamfered axial beam with ogee stops. Large fireplace to right with concealed lintel.
