Town house, now shop. Early C18, with later alterations. Coursed limestone
rubble; hipped stone slate roof; lateral stacks finished in brick. Double-depth
plan. 3 storeys: 2-window range. C20 shop front. Timber lintels over 8-pane
sashes with shutters; moulded wood cornice. Similar right side wall, and similar
windows to left. C20 extension to left. Interior not inspected but likely to be
of interest. Known as The Temperance Hotel in the C19: it was a coffee tavern
set up by the British and Foreign Temperance Society in 1834 and was used for
the Annual Tucker's Feast by the blanket manufacturers.
