II
Former boatyard building, now various commercial uses. Mainly C19, but possibly C18 or earlier work to low levels at river end. Ground floor and below in rubble, upper level part timber frame with horizontal weatherboard, part English bond brick- work, brick dressings, slate roofs. In two sections: to the left a long, narrow building with, at ground level, an arched throughway which forms part of the adjoin- ing (not listed) building, a doorway raised on step, paired wide plank doors to concrete lintol and a further wide pair of plank doors to throughway, a further door, to brick flat arch, a 12-pane fixed sash, further wide opening with plank doors to wood lintol, and a plain glass opening to brick flat arch. Upper level has four 6-pane pivot-hung lights in slightly canted timber framed section, and central pair of loading doors in a dormer projection. Right half has two doors flanking a window opening, to wood lintols, but concrete far left; above a central plank loading door is flanked by 12-pane and 8-pane sashes. Return, to river, has early stone basement/harbour wall, 3 storeys, with loading doors in gable and at mid level; the lower one has wide brick relieving arch. Back of building is plain rubble under boarding or brick; various later lean-tos not of special interest. Roof not inspected; intermediate floors are sawn joists to herring-bone strutting. Modest building in nautical tradition, externally little changed.
