Details
MOLLAND SS 82 NW 15/63 West Park - II Farmhouse. Mid-Cl7 with probably mid-to late C19 alterations and additions. Rendered, probably over stone rubble. Gable-ended corrugated-asbestos roof. Welsh- slate roof over lean-to addition. Square stone lateral stack at front with late-C19 brick top stage. Plan and development: C17 2-room plan, facing south. Larger principal room to right with external lateral stack to front; smaller unheated room to left, with entrance to front and internal divisions including C17 dog-leg stair with foot in principal room to right. Probably late-C19 lean-to addition at front to left of stack and wing around corner to left to form porch. 2-storeys with 1-storey lean-to addition. Exterior: Asymmetrical 2-window front; first floor probably C19 2-light leaded metal casements flanking central stack, and ground-floor C18 3-light fixed wooden window to right, with fixed leaded light to left. Lean-to to left with 2-light wooden casement and half-glazed 4-panelled door to left. Central stack to front with chamfered offsets at eaves level, weathering and cap, and small ground floor window in right-hand side. Rear of house not inspected. Interior: Right-hand ground floor room has C17 chamfered cross beam with stepped runout stops and blocked old fireplace with bread oven. Former L-shaped bench in corner to left of fireplace, since removed but matchboarded back survives. Recess below hall window. C17 wooden winder stair with curved wall, and old boarded door at foot with strap hinges and remains of C17 pegged frame. First-floor rooms and roofspace not inspected.
