Details
NORTH MOLTON SS 72 NW 13/122 South Leigh Farmhouse 20.2.67 II Farmhouse. Probably C17, possibly earlier, with probably C18 and C19 additions. Remodelled in the mid to late C20. Stone rubble and cob, almost completely cement rendered. C20 asbestos-slate roof (formerly thatched), hipped to left. Brick stacks. Plan and development: Probably 3 room and cross-passage plan, facing south (ground falls to left). Probably consisting of hall with axial stack backing onto cross- passage and former service to left with external lateral stack to rear, and former inner room to right with end stack. Probably late C18 one-roomed addition at left- hand end and probably C19 short addition projecting at right angles in front of right-hand end. Two storeys. Exterior: Asymmetrically-fenestrated front. 4 windows to first floor and 5 to ground floor, all mid to late C20 wooden casements, mainly of 2 lights. C19 gabled stone porch between second and third windows from right, with small casement to front and entrance in right-hand side. Left-hand return of right-hand wing has first-floor C20 two-light wooden casement and ground-floor boarded door. Interior not inspected (access denied).
