II

House and former stables, now 2 dwellings, Late C16, altered and
extended C19 and C20. L-plan timber-framed house with right-hand bay
gabled and projecting. Projection has first floor jettied to front
and right with moulded bressumer, curved bracket to corner and one shaped
bracket, Left side originally jettied but now with C19 lean-to,
Brick infill, herringbone to projection and front wall of rear wing.
Tiled roofs, central brick chimney. 2 storeys, 2 bays to front. Jettied
bay has old leaded windows, 3-light to ground floor, canted oriel with
moulded base and mullions to first floor. Similar 2-light casement to
first floor centre of rear range. Later 3-light leaded casement to
lean-to. Left-hand bay has C19 gabled brick projection of 2 storeys
and an attic with horizontal sliding sash to ground floor, 2 C20
paired metal casements to first floor, and small attic window. Left
side has C19 wooden casements and entry. Right side rebuilt in brick
with C20 leaded casements and C20 lean-to porch connecting with former
stable block to rear. Royal Exchange fire insurance plaque on N.W..
corner of jettied bay. Orchard Cottage, to right, has original staircase
with segmental door arch to frame on landing,
