House. 1895 by Eustace C Frere on family property (information from owner). L-shaped Arts and Crafts house. Red brick with pebbledashed upper parts. Steep red tile roof with bellcast at eaves, hipped to W and with gabled, two and a half storeys, cross-wing on E. Entrance porch and stair in angle under catslide extension of cross-wing. Large red brick chimney at junction of wings. Upper part of each cross wing gable corbelled out to face of external gable chimney (as at Thorley House of c.1902). 2-light and 4-light wooden casement windows on S. Interesting E front of crosswing flanked by gable chimneys each with small gabled offset just above roof. Corbelled kneelers to eaves. Moulded brick plinth offset but plinth face carried up as apron to 2 5-light mullioned and transomed wooden windows with small panes, projecting blue brick corbels at sill and 2 rows of tile over. Dentilled brick and below pebbledash upper part with 2 3-light low, small paned, windows under eaves. Recessed corner porch in angle, with low brick surround supporting stumpy wooden turned column on heavy timber capping. Heavy beams around corner carved with strapwork interlace on convex outer face, said to include name of architect. Half-glazed small paned front door. Staircase has tapered square newel posts.
