4/49 Service range immediately 9.9.87 north of Street Farmhouse

GV II

Service range to Street Farmhouse (qv. Item 4/48), now disused. First half of C17 with early C18 alteration. Timber framed, with much-decayed plasterwork on 3 sides. To the west, facing the road, an early C18 parapet gable end of red brick with dark headers; the gable has tumbling and there is an integral stack with original plain shaft. Corrugated iron-clad roof. 1½ storeys. 2- cell form, set at right angles to the house. Small casement windows. Opposed doorways with boarded doors. Remains of gabled addition against brick gable end. Substantially intact frame with straight wall bracing. Rear cell has plain joists set flat. Joists in front cell of more variable quality, some on-edge. Clasp purlin roof, some re-used sooted rafters. The range probably continued further to the west before the brick gable end was added.
