2/58 White House Farmhouse -
GV II
Former farmhouse. Early C17. Restored 1984-6. Timber framed, mid C20 panelled render; colourwashed brick gable end to left, probably of c.1700. Pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 2-cell form, a probable 3rd cell to left now missing. Scattered fenestration, mullioned casements of c.1985, the main windows with 4-centre arched heads to each light. C19 4-panel door. 2 gabled dormers of c.1985. External stacks at each gable end, that to the right of C19 date. Full-height studding exposed internally, mostly intact; reverse- curved braces. Trimming for many original windows and mortices for diamond mullions in right cell (service end). There is no evidence for studding at the left gable end, indicating the house must once have continued beyond. Plain joists set flat to all floors. Cambered tie beam in cross-partition. Clasped-purlin roof with incomplete wind bracing.
