Includes No.1 Reading Road and Nos. 2,4,6,8 and 10 Whitchurch Road. Row of 8 shops. Circa 1900, by Leonard Stokes in a free neo-Georgian style. Grey brick with red dressings. 2 large tile hung gables and tile roof, hipped to south-west. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic. Deep eaves and 4 stacks. One dormer to south with glazing bar sash, and one to west. 4 dormers to north-west with 2-light casements, and large slightly projecting gabled semi dormer between first and second from north with semi circular window. West front: large projecting gable off-centre to right with first floor jetted on brackets; two paired attic glazing bar sashes; first floor canted bay with glazing bar sashes, 2 set back flanking glazing bar sashes, and pulvinated frieze; 3 central ground floor windows separated by Tuscan pilasters, two 4-panelled doors set back to left, and 5-panelled door set back to right with oval fanlight. First floor glazing bar sash to right and 2 glazing bar sashes on corner to right with pulvinated frieze. Five first floor 4-light casements to left. Ground floor plate glass shop window to right and angled half glazed door in right-hand corner. Vehicular entrance to left, and five C20 shop fronts to left set back behind colonnade with timber clad square piers. South front: large projecting gable as west front but with 3 ground floor windows to right separated by pilasters and two 2-panelled doors to left with rectangular overlight. 2 first floor glazing bar sashes on corner to left with pulvinated frieze: Ground floor plate glass window to left.
