Details
NORTH MOLTON THE SQUARE (north side), SS 7229-7329 18/186 Two Avery memorials approximately - 23 metres to north-east of chancel of Church of All Saints GV II Chest tomb and headstone. Early C19. Sandstone. Chest tomb with chamfered top slab, broken into 3 pieces at time of survey (October 1987). Recessed convex moulded oval panel in west end, with inscription around outside and carved winged cherubs' heads in spandrels. Inscripton in panel to Mary Avery wife of Charles (d. 23rd June, buried 28th June 1826, aged 43 years). Headstone has moulded raised oval panel with carved winged cherubs' heads in spandrels and well-carved scrolled top with urn to centre. Inscription to Richard Avery (d. 3rd November, buried 7th November 1803), partly in cursive script.
