PETERSTOW CP SO 52 SE 6/121 High Town Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Probably Cl7 to early C18 with later alterations and additions. Sandstone rubble plinth, timber-frame with brick infill, mostly pebbledashed, asbestos slate roof and external side stack with brick shaft. Two bays aligned roughly north/south. Two storeys. West elevation has one window, 2-light casement to left. Ground floor has one small 4-paned window to left- hand side and 4-light steel casement to right. Four-panelled early C20 door under flat canopy to left of centre. South gable has exposed timber-framing three square panels high from high cill to wall-plate and V-struts above collar supported by two posts. Attached to left is a brick lean-to extension. Interior has heavy chamfered ceiling beams to ground floor. (RCHM Vol I, p 218).
