Probably a single build house, the original plan of 3 rooms and a through passage, lower end to right, the hall heated by a rear lateral stack. A stair in the inner room along the rear wall has"been truncated and a C20 stair inserted in the passage. Rear left and right lean-tos are probably later additions. Pre C19 plans of the house are said to show a second range at an angle to the present range adjoining the lower end. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front with a front door to the right with a C20 porch with a segmental pediment; 4 first floor 4-light C17 timber mullioned windows with octagonal mullions and late C19/early C20 2-pane casements. The hall fireplace has granite ashlar jambs and a chamfered timber lintel with step stops, 2 cross beams have step stops; the third beam, above the partition to the passage is chamfered and stopped on both sides, some remains of a plaster cornice. The inner room has a replaced cross beam, open fireplace with granite ashlar jambs and a chamfered stopped lintel, an inner room doorway is chamfered with large scroll stops. The lower end room has a cross beam with bar stops and a fireplace similar to those in the hall and inner room. The rear door of the passage has been blocked and the screen at the hall side of the passage made up of C17 panelling including some carved sections. Several first floor doorways are chamfered and stopped. 5 jointed cruck roof trusses have cambered collars, threaded purlins and a threaded ridge. An unusual survival of a probably single-build C17 house with considerable survival of internal features, described by Alcock as a "very good example" of the period (Alcock)). Alcock, undated report.
