ST 40 SW BURSTOCK BURSTOCK VILLAGE 4-12-1951 4/77 Manor Farmhouse and attached front wall and gate-piers.
II
Detached Farmhouse. Early C18. Dressed stone walls. Slate roof and stone gable-copings. One C20 brick stack just left of centre, one similar stack at right hand gable. Front range and rear wing. 2 storeys. 5 windows,. Symmetrical facade. 3-light stone mullions, hollow-chamfered, with separate labels over ground floor windows. Integral stone cills to all the windows. No labels at first floor. Mullions right of centre are replacements. Front doorway at centre, with projecting stone key. Door, 6-panelled with 2 top lights, Cl9. Rear range, same walls, patent tile roof with stone gable coping. One brick stack at rear gable. C20 metal casements.
Attached chert-rubble wall with stone-coping to front of house, ramped. at corners and to central gate-piers. Two ashlar stone gate-piers, with heavy moulded cornice and necking. Large ball-finials. Sides of the gate-piers rebated, and with a scroll-top, Cl8. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 57(5).
