Details
THORNDON TM 16 NE 4/75 Thorndon Hill (formerly listed as Thorndon Hill 29.7.55 Farmhouse) - II Former farmhouse. Early C17, in at least 2 phases. Considerable mid C20 renovations. A long 4-cell main range with central rear wing. Timber framed and plastered, roof of concrete pantiles. 2 storeys and attic. Mid C20 windows, mainly of mullion and transom pattern, all with square-leaded glass. Central 2-storey mid C20 gabled entrance addition with battened plank door. Internal stack, entirely rebuilt mid C20, has grouped square flues set diamondwise. C19 gable stack to right has matching mid C20 shaft. Left gable end has ovolo-moulded tie beam and original brackets to ends of wallplates. To rear is a C17 dormer with enriched lintol. Much altered interior, the C17 rear wall now mostly removed. Ovolo floor beams, plain joists. The first floor rooms have pairs of deep bridging beams. Butt purlin roof.
