Details
SP 1037 BROADWAY CP HIGH STREET (south side) 9/109 No 117 GV II House. Late C17 with late C18 alterations. Limestone rubble with stone slate roof. Two storeys with attic. Main range aligned north/south, with wing projection on east side. East wall of main range has canted bay window on stone base, under slated canopy which extends over doorway at left. First floor window is sashed with glazing bars and plain reveals. The door has a re-dressed chamfered surround with Tudor-arched head. The gable wall of the wing, at the left, has breaks in the stone coursing which suggest reconstruction. The north wall of the wing has a timber casement window on the ground floor with leaded glazing, and an attic dormer. Chimneys to right of main range and on gable of wing. South wall of wing has a one-light rebated and chamfered window to the right of a door, and an enlarged window to the left within a rebated and chamfered surround. The gable to the main range, to the left, has a doorway on the ground floor within a rebated and chamfered window with hood. On the first floor is a window with plain reveals and hood. The attic has a 3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window. Interior: north room of main range has stone fireplace with chamfered surround and canted head, partly reconstructed in the C20. The main beam is chamfered with lamb's tongue stops. The wing has an inglenook fireplace with bressummer and bread oven. On the first floor a partition wall between the main range and wing is framed in square panels. In the attic of the main range are exposed oak purlins and trusses truncated at collar level.
