Details
WORLINGWORTH TM 26 NW 5/110 Oak Farmhouse 29.7.55 - II
Farmhouse. Early-mid C17, in 2 or more phases. A main range with flanking projecting wings, that to the right extending to the rear as a full cross- wing. Timber framed and plastered; recessed centre has remains of old plaster panels with ropework pargetting. Pierced scalloped bargeboards. Thatched roof. 2 storeys and attic. Various casement windows, mostly of C20 date with metal frames. The wing set forward to left has an overhanging gable on carved consoles. Internal stack at junction of main range and cross-wing. Return wall of cross-wing has a late C19 doorway with half-glazed door and enclosed trellis porch. Victorianised interior. 2 main ground floor rooms have ovolo- moulded cross-beamed ceilings, the hall with a 3-sided ovolo cornice. Parlour chamber has plain studding with evidence for original windows. Interior not fully examined.
