NORTH HUISH SX75NW AVONWICK 4/461 Pair of gate piers, gate and flanking walls and piers immediately SE of Higher Lodge GV II
Pair of gate piers and gate with flanking walls and piers at entrance to drive at Black Hall (qv). Circa early to mid C19. Granite ashlar. Pair of square-on-plan rusticated gate piers with plain plinths and caps chamfered granite coping swept out in a curve to rusticated terminal piers with ball finials similar to but small than the gate piers to the carriageway. Coeval wrought iron gate with 7 rails progressively wider spaced towards the top; the stiles are bent over the top rail to form scrolls and the top rail has a scrolled cresting over the centre with a cast iron anthelion; the curved braces are also scrolled where they meet at the centre.
