2. The present church is of C13 origin but the original building may have been of pre-conquest date. The nave which has a C13 lancet window (blocked), is not in line with the chancel and its unusual proportions may be due to a pre-conquest plan. The south aisle and arcade are of the early C14 with quatrefoil piers. The west tower is of 3 stages the lower 2 stages are early C14 and the top stage is C16, with brick quoins and an embattled parapet. It has diagonal buttresses only on the lower stage and a C13 west window. There are some notable fittings including a C14 screen in the chancel arch, a C15 carved pulpit, a C14 piscina and C14 and C15 altar tombs and recesses. in the chancel. Graded for its architectural and historic value. (RCHM 1).
