House, formerly joined with No.8. Late C16. For Thomas Bingley, Mayor of Poole. Divided and altered mid C18, rear service wing added early C19, altered late C20. Rendered coursed squared rubble and timber-framed, render now removed, large rubble left-hand stack with C17 brick extension with panelled sides, and a tiled roof. Former 2-room parallel plan, now divided in half, with rear service wing. 2 storeys; 1-window range. Plinth, right-hand doorway with a bracketed canopy extending across No.8 (qv), ground-floor 15-light mullion and transom window, first-floor bracketed 10-light mullion and transom oriel, and a hipped 2-light dormer. Lattice leaded casements. Rear ground-floor outshut with a small dormer, and a NW gabled 2-storey wing, paired with that of No.8. INTERIOR: recorded as having a framed rear closed-well stair with wattle and daub panels, early C18 bolection-moulded fire surround, and plank and muntin first-floor panelling and partitions. Formerly known as Bingley House, and connected to No.4 (qv). (RCHME: County of Dorset (South East): London: 1970-: 229).
