GV II
Stable, now house. c1805. By John Nash. Stucco with slate hipped roof and leaded dome to weatherboarded cupola. Single-depth plan to U-shaped courtyard with enclosing walls. 2 storeys with single-storey wings; 4-window range. House has a pedimented porch with paired columns to double doors, windows with cambered heads, a left-hand French window and 2 right-hand 6/6-pane sashes, with 3/3-pane first-floor sashes. Full-width first-floor balcony on slender iron stanchions. Wings project each side and return forward, with round-arched carriage openings each side. The ends of the wings are joined by tall curved brick wall with a central round carriage archway with imposts and a coped flat top. Rear has round-arched ground-floor windows with casements. INTERIOR altered in conversion. Group value with Merley House (qv). (RCHME: County of Dorset (South East): London: 1970-: 209).
