Primary school. Dated 1833, extended to rear in later C19. Rendered cob with slate hipped roof. Rectangular plan with later C19 rear extensions. Simple composition with Gothick details. Single-storey; 3-window range. 4-centre-arched openings with a left-hand doorway, with bottom-hinged overlight over mid C20 door, and early C19 wooden windows with Y mullions; former right-hand end porch with crenellated parapet over segmental-arched late C20 plank door, an original matching porch to left having been altered leaving front wall with segmental-arched doorway only. Left-hand return has similar 2-light window and right-hand return has early C19 small-paned (4x4) casement. Later C19 rear left wings of brick with hipped and gabled slate roofs; mid C20 flat-roofed rear right wing. INTERIOR plain, but retains semicircular arch framing Y-tracery window over former doorway to rear right. An unusual example of a school building with cob walls, built under the patronage of prominent local families. (RCHME: County of Dorset (South East): London: 1970-: 239).
